Tube passengers perform Michael Jackson’s Thriller on a carriage. The other commuters look unimpressed.
The clip is a big hit on YouTube. However, it is not the wannabe zombies that get the rave reviews but the ‘don’t embarrass me, I’m English’ reaction of the commuters on the District line.
One viewer said: ‘This is amazing!!! Slick as hell. I love the people who pretend they’re not interested.’
Another Internet watcher said: ‘The polite applause at the end is the best bit – very British.’

Heath Ledger mixed blockbuster roles with independent films |
Actor Heath Ledger, who has been found dead at the age of 28, was regarded as one of Hollywood’s brightest young stars, with a string of acclaimed films behind him and a major career ahead.
The death of such an admired star at such a young age will cause huge shock among fans, the media and the movie industry.
He shot onto the A list less than three years ago with a lead role in the universally acclaimed Brokeback Mountain, which proved he could shine in emotionally challenging roles as well as comedies and action films.
He played the inarticulate and volatile ranch hand Ennis, who became romantically entangled with a rodeo cowboy, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, in 1960s Wyoming.
It earned him Oscar, Golden Globe and Bafta nominations.
E Annie Proulx, who wrote the story upon which the movie was based, said: “He was so visceral. How did this actor get inside my head so well? He understood more about the character than I did.”
|
HEATH LEDGER’S TOP FILMS
Batman – The Dark Knight (2008) I’m Not There (2007) Brokeback Mountain (2005, above left) The Brothers Grimm (2005) Ned Kelly (2003) Monster’s Ball (2001) A Knight’s Tale (2001) The Patriot (2000) 10 Things I Hate About You (1999) Two Hands (1999) |
After Brokeback Mountain, Ledger was beginning to win blockbuster roles, and had just finished playing The Joker in the new Batman film The Dark Knight.
A recent trailer showed him playing the character as a sinister villain who proves a match for the superhero, played by Christian Bale.
“When we came to shoot the movie it was a physically and mentally draining role but I thoroughly enjoyed it and this is the most fun I’ve had with any character,” he said.
Ledger was also thought to be in the middle of filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, a new fantasy movie with former Monty Python member Terry Gilliam.
Set and shot in modern London, it is the tale of a travelling theatre that takes the audience into a parallel universe.
He has also just been seen in I’m Not There, which saw six actors play characters based on Bob Dylan at different stages of his career.
Ledger was born in Perth, Western Australia, in 1979 |
Ledger said his character Robbie Clark focused on “Dylan’s struggle with love and his marriage and divorce and family and balancing being in the media spotlight”.
Ledger’s other roles have included a heroin addict in Candy in 2006, Gilliam’s The Brothers Grimm in 2005 and the title part in 2003′s Ned Kelly.
He appeared alongside Halle Berry in the Oscar-winning Monster’s Ball in 2001, starred in popcorn movie A Knight’s Tale the same year, and was seen alongside Mel Gibson in The Patriot in 2000.
His Hollywood debut came in teen comedy 10 Things I Hate About You and he starred in light-hearted Australian gangster flick Two Hands in 1999.
And like many Australian actors, he had cut his teeth in TV soaps, playing surfer Scott Irwin in Home and Away in 1997.
The star had a daughter with US actress Michelle Williams |
Ledger was not known as a hellraiser, but was said to have been uncomfortable with fame.
And the spotlight inevitably fell on him during the bad times as well as the good.
He was recently reported to have split from his fiancee Michelle Williams, whom he met when she played his wife in Brokeback Mountain.
They had a daughter, Matilda Rose, in October 2005, but were believed to have parted in late 2007.
Ledger was previously in a couple with another actress, Naomi Watts. Their relationship ended in 2004.
But he will be remembered for his film roles and after establishing himself as one of Hollywood’s finest actors under 30, Ledger’s life has ended just as his talent was beginning to be fulfilled.

Hollywood actor Heath Ledger has been found dead at a residence in downtown Manhattan.
“He was found unconscious at the apartment and pronounced dead,” the New York Police Department said, adding that pills were found near the body.
Police are reportedly investigating if the Australian actor, who earned an Oscar nomination for Brokeback Mountain, died of a drug overdose.
The 28-year-old was found dead in the flat at 1526 (2026 GMT).
Police said they did not suspect foul play and that his body had been discovered surrounded by pills.
‘Pills’
“We are investigating the possibility of an overdose,” police spokesman Paul Browne told Reuters news agency. “There were pills within the vicinity of the bed.”
The BBC’s Matthew Price in New York says the exact cause of death was still being investigated, but suicide has not been ruled out.
Police, journalists and crowds of fans are outside the Broome Street apartment in the fashionable SoHo area.
Investigators said Ledger had been due to have a massage at the flat.
Police officers removed Ledger’s body from the New York flat |
The housekeeper went to tell him the masseuse had arrived and found him dead on Tuesday afternoon.
The medical examiner’s office said an autopsy would be carried out on Wednesday.
In September the Perth-born actor split from his girlfriend Michelle Williams, with whom he has a two-year-old daughter, Matilda.
Williams played his wife in the 2005 film Brokeback Mountain.
Hollywood mourning
Hollywood’s hierarchy were quick to offer their tributes and mourn Ledger’s death.
“I had such great hope for him,” said Oscar-winning actor-director Mel Gibson. “He was just taking off and to lose his life at such a young age is a tragic loss.”
In 2001, Mr Gibson had cast Ledger to play his son in the American war of independence epic, The Patriot.
“What a terrible tragedy. My heart goes out to his family,” said fellow Australian actress Nicole Kidman.
American actor John Travolta, who was in Australia at the time of Ledger’s death, said the young actor had been one of his favourite performers.
“His abilities are rare…it’s a tremendous loss,” said Mr Travolta.
Brokeback breakthrough
Ledger had split up with fellow Brokeback star Michelle Williams |
Brokeback Mountain director Ang Lee said Ledger’s performance had been a “miracle” of acting, echoing a young Marlon Brando.
He won an Oscar nomination for his role as a gay cowboy in the film but the award went to Philip Seymour Hoffman for his role as Truman Capote.
Ledger starred in I’m Not There, as one of several actors in a role representing singer Bob Dylan.
He also plays the Joker in yet-to-be-released Batman film, The Dark Knight.
Ledger also starred in A Knight’s Tale and The Patriot, and played a suicidal son in Monster’s Ball.
BONO, George Clooney and Jay-Z have all appeared in a spoof video for departing Microsoft Boss Bill Gates. Gates is hanging up his keyboard this summer after creating one of the biggest and most powerful companies in the world.
The stars appeared in the video as the Microsoft Founder decided to have the last laugh on his colleagues with a spoof video of his last day on the job.
The video called Bill’s Last Day illustrated how the 53-year-old might spend his last full day at Microsoft, and his relentless pursuit of a new “day job.”
In the footage Gates is seen working out in the gym with his trainer played by Matthew McConaughey.

A video showing an RAF ground crew man breakdancing as he guides out £25million Tornado jets has become an internet sensation.
The video shows how other national ground crew men lead out jets before a message says: This is how the British do it.
The music changes to YMCA and shows Senior Aircraftman Dean Tabreham, 28, with massive white gloved dancing to the music while guiding out Britain’s elite RAF fighter pilots.
Another scene shows the member of the elite 12 bomber squadron throwing breakdancing moves while another still shows him moonwalking to Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
The final scene shows Mr Tabreham dressed as one of the 118 118 characters jogging as he leads out the multimillion pound jets during a Nato tactical leadership exercise at Florennes air base, in Belgium.
The video was made by RAF staff to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Last night senior RAF staff Dean would not be repremanded for the actions.
An MoD spokesman said: ‘Dean is a top bloke who has been tearing up the tarmac with his moves. ‘He’s famous on the unit and proves RAF marshals are the best in the world.’
An insider told The Sun newspaper: ‘The Lineys [Dean's team] have a great rapport with the Tornado crews who they see off and see back in on missions.
‘They like to send them off with a smile on their faces to help alleviate combat nerves on missions over Iraq.’
