Star Wars

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away (well, France actually) the forces of good and evil did battle once more.

No, it’s not the seventh instalment of the Star Wars series, it’s a collection of striking images involving characters from the franchise in bleak surroundings.

They include robots C-3PO and R2-D2 checking out a smashed up Citroen, overweight crimelord Jabba the Hutt in a derelict room and bounty hunter Jango Fett holding up a car.

Darth Vader is also pictured – swinging his red lightsaber against a sinister-looking building while Stormtrooper snipers prowl on the roof.

And fans of X-wing fighters and Imperial Walkers have also been catered for in the stunning images.

The Force was clearly strong with French photographer Cedric Delsaux, who created the scenes. He also managed to give his photographs a crisp science fiction feel despite the stark urban backdrops in them.

Firstly, Mr Delsaux captured bleak landscapes in Paris and Lille, and then photographed the models, which were between 20cm and 40cm tall.

He then merged the two using a computer. ‘I decided to mix together the common suburbs and some fantastic characters, which I think has created something poetic,’ he said.

Adam Lamping, of fans’ website jedinews.co.uk, said: ‘It’s such an unusual thing to see Star Wars characters from this galaxy far, far away juxtaposed with everyday suburban scenes.

‘The pictures of the Emperor’s Royal Guard are particularly impressive with the red against the dark grey skies. ‘It’s been captured perfectly.’

French photographer Cedric Delsaux brings this little Star Wars into our contemporary urban surroundings. Head over to his site to view the entire series.

The Prophecy, a unique digital project created by Aymeric Giraudel for Beautifulmag and brought to you by BeautifulMag on January 21st 2008.
Visit http://www.beautifulmag.eu for the latest updates and on The Prophecy.

This video’s background is “the Beast WithinMarie Kairu’s singing (beautiful voice) and Madonna’s reading a verse of the Bible.

I have to say this is a picture of an incredible beauty. It is impressive, stunning. It must be seen absolutely. Very beautiful video, technically perfect. Love the incredible handle of images and creativity. Have some close look:

All through history there have been men and women with visionary ideas, that provoked a lot of protest of less adventurous people. When the first photographs came to existence, people looked upon it with doubt and anxiety. When digital photography came to existence, this technology too was baulked at. Little did we know that digital photography would become a new art and bring to life a society of modern magicians. And Aymeric Giraudel is a magicians master.

It took over 7 months of work and 35 different models – both amateurs and professionals – and many, many shots to create the incredible dynamic poses, to bring The Prophecy to life. It has become a work full of symbolism, sensation and emotion. Dynamic action that all concentrates around one character who, in a matter of speaking, ascents from the clashing human behavior, and becomes a personification from true beauty, like a phoenix from the flames.

Aymeric Giraudel’s work are captures of his dreams and visions of the future. Full of symbolism and surreal situations. Each piece that finds its origin in Aymeric’s creative brain tells us a story. He created The Prophecy specially for you, as a free high resolution download:

True Character

Profile
Sean Teegarden was born, raised, and home schooled in Downey, California, by two awesome parents. From a young age, Sean had a camera in his hands and on many occasions became frustrated with capturing a finger in the lens, covering his artistic compositions. Graduating high school early, Sean went to Cerritos College where he developed his love of photography in the darkroom. His inspiration for imagery comes from experiences in the Boy Scouting Program, his religious background, and love of 1950’s television. Currently, Sean is attending Art Center College of Design. He will graduate in December and work towards attaining his dream job.

Communication objective
It is said that the masters of old would paint in the flaws on their subjects as a finishing touch, a method of making paintings real. In this series, I made true characteristics of these people blatantly apparent. I wanted viewers to see every little detail that many would call flaws — I see them as True Character.

Tools used
Using the file’s Red, Green, and Blue Channels, I found which color contained the most contrast that enhanced the important details. I copied the information and pasted it into new layers. I used a series of blend modes and layer masks to bring out striking detail and retain great value and color. I employed burn/dodge layers to emphasize shadows and finally employed sharpening and blurring to make every little “Character” jump off the page.
